I can’t believe I went and fell in love again, but I did…
“Love is a beautiful thing that can be experienced time and time again in this life if you are brave enough and willing to be hurt by it… and many times you will. Oh but the goodness that comes when you are graced by it’s presence, you remember why it’s always worth it.”
This is what I know.
You can’t stop living and loving because things didn’t work out or someone broke your heart. Love can suck! Heartbreak can flat-out knock you off your feet and make you not want to get out of bed in the morning. It can make you lose sleep, gain weight or lose weight. It can make you put on a frown and want to shut the whole world out, yourself included because what good is life without love.
Love, it’s like oxygen and the coldest of souls can be changed or hardened by it. It is what we are all seeking in this life whether we want to admit it or not.
Love may break you, but it will also heal you.
I have been broken and mended by love more times than I can count and it was worth it every time. There will always be someone to love if you are willing to open your heart to it. Yes, you may get hurt again and it may not work out but what if, just maybe, it turns out better than you could have ever planned or hoped for.
There’s only one way to find out… Jump.
No holding on to the edge of fear. No, I’ll just protect my heart enough so they can’t hurt me. No walls up, no fist clenched, no held breath and eyes squeezed shut… You’ve got to jump in head first, walls crumbling down, with palms open, eyes wide and heart exposed and vulnerable!
All in until you drown in love again.
You will try again because it is worth it. It is worth it to have passion in your life, it is worth it to wake up next to the one you love, not because they complete you… no, they compliment you on your journey through this thing called life. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy… you will fight and you will disagree and you will want to strangle them on some days but it will be worth it.
Every fight an opportunity for communication, every disagreement an opportunity for compromise, every misstep, a side step in the tango of love that brings you closer.
So in the moments that you catch the other smiling at you, or the times you snuggle up close at night you’ll remember it’s worth it.
For the moments when your heart lunges in your chest and your throat gets tied into a knot when they kiss you, you’ll remember it’s all worth it.
When you look at each other in the eyes and know with ever fiber of your being that you love them, you’ll know it’s worth it…
Love is always worth it.
So, I’m thinking this time around should I go for the swan dive or cannon ball? I’m undecided! Either way I’m all in, head first falling in love again.
Write back soon, love Annie.
