Sitting in silence allows us to find our deepest desires and face our deepest fears. If we stood face to face with all the untruths we told ourselves in our daily lives, we would truly see the dark in them.
We need to become aware that they are only thoughts.
It’s when we unconsciously go about our day listening to the negative thoughts, believing them and taking them on as our own, that we become part of that dark. Be it anger, depression, anxiety, rage or sadness.
Sometimes we feel certain emotions because we actually believe all the noise between our ears is the truth.
We become emotional, not because of what’s going on in front of us, but because of what’s going on in our head. Stories about us, our lovers, our friends and family.
How could they do that to me?!
How could I be so stupid?
I’m not good enough…
I’m a failure…
I look ugly…
I’m not lovable…
Why did they do that?
I can’t believe they did that to me… to me, to me, to me…
All of us, all in our minds, driving ourselves mad, that the world is against us.
No one ever really does anything “to us.” People just do things… mostly because people are selfish. It’s our reactions and thoughts about what people did/do that hurt us the most.
Some people have no idea that they are not the voice in their mind, and they become possessed by their minds. Acting in ways we can not understand: hate, rage, revenge and anger.
That does not excuse their actions. We do not need to tolerate or except them, but we must not become just like them, retaliating in similar ways.
We just need to have the knowledge that those thoughts are there, and to not take every thing so personally.
Really, stop taking everything so personally… what other people do, has nothing to do with you. We can not control other people, we can only control ourselves.
Above all else, we need to be easy on ourselves, the world is hard enough.
Give in, not by giving up, but by surrendering to the truth that all our hearts just want to love and be loved.

May we all learn to quiet the negative chatter of the ego in our mind and when we can not, may we find peace in the chaos.
